Leon Tulton is a community liaison for Real Dads Network. He helps promote activities of the organization (e.g. monthly club meetings) at community gatherings such as Manhattan Community Board 10’s general meetings each month. Leon works with his fellow dads to raise awareness about the importance of fathers being politically involved in local and state elections and pushing for the passing of shared parental rights into law.
Leon likes sharing his RDN experience with other fathers who may feel that the organization is only for dads with “baby mama drama”. “I always tell dads who may want to join that they don’t have to have problems with their kid’s mother to be a part of our group,” he said. “As a married father with no baby mama drama, I’ve benefited from being a member by getting valuable advice from my fellow dads about raising a teenage girl from men who already had that experience. RDN is about dads supporting one another.”
In addition to his community liaison role, Leon also serves as the group’s ad-hoc social coordinator who plans social gatherings for RDN members outside of the monthly club meetings such as bowling and restaurant outings.
Outside of RDN, Leon works in government as a representative of an elected official and volunteers as president of his building association.
Leon lives in New York City with his wife and teenage daughter.
